Sia Wui San has obtained her law degree (LL.B) from the University of London and subsequently acquired her Certificate in Legal Practice. Having been called to the bar in 2021, she then undertook the challenge of pursuing a Master of Law (LL.M) at the University of Malaya while working full time, where she graduated with Distinction.
She did her pupillage at Messrs Lavinia, Dell Akbar. Tee & Partners, gaining hands-on experience in drafting and reviewing legal documents and conducting due diligence on property conveyancing transactions.
She then embarked on her legal journey as a Legal Associate at Messrs Raja, Darryl & Loh, primarily practicing in the employment and industrial relations practice group. While her main focus was on resolving employment and industrial relations matters, she also handled general litigation, debt recovery, and wills and probate cases. Her expertise extended to representing clients alongside the partners in unfair dismissal claims and judicial reviews at various court levels. Beyond the courtroom, she also provided comprehensive advice to a diverse clientele, ranging from small and medium-sized enterprises to multinational corporations. Her advisory role covered a broad spectrum of employment and industrial relation-related matters, encompassing drafting agreements and policies, compliance, employee termination, disciplinary issues, business transfers, restructuring exercises, sexual harassment, staff training, workshops, and retrenchment processes.
Notably, during her pursuit of the LLM, she served as a Research Assistant to Professor Emeritus Datuk Dr. Shad Saleem Faruqi. This pivotal role involved extensive research to update the professor’s publication titled “Document of Destiny: The Constitution of the Federation of Malaysia,” deepening her understanding of constitutional and administrative law in Malaysia.
Before entering the legal domain, she carved out a niche for herself in the world of media as a news editor at Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) where she produced and edited news and special stories for broadcast on Ai FM.
