Tom Lim Yap Thong finished his final year law exams before he turned 20 and obtained a 2nd Upper Class LL.B (Hons) Degree from the University of the West of England, Bristol. With the Degree at such a young age, Tom first joined a foreign bank for their graduate management trainee programme and then a private intellectual property agency before commencing his career as a litigator.
After the experiences obtained in the gap years he took during the time he was privileged with, Tom sat for and obtained the professional certificate with first one attempt. He then joined a mid-sized firm as the first chambering pupil to the litigation partner, whereby he also took his own initiatives to learn from both the corporate and conveyancing partners.
After his pupillage, Tom was invited to join the intellectual property department in one of the oldest big firm where he realized that his real interests and true passions are in litigation. Therefore, after completing his contract and got called to the Bar, Tom joined a banking litigation firm as a
first year lawyer. Tom had learned and enhanced all of his basic litigation skills there from the High Court level up to the appellate levels.
Tom’s true talent and persistent passions have made him an outstanding litigator among his other peers. Tom has handled complex cases and managed celebrated clients independently since his junior years of practice. Tom now is a young counsel acting for his juniors and other solicitors firms in conducting full trials and hearings. Apart from being an avid litigator, Tom also has had experiences in corporate advisory when he was chosen to be a secondment lawyer for a group of companies for half a year.
