Wan Mohamad Arsham Faris Bin Wan Mohd Razani

Biography

Wan Mohamad Arsham Faris bin Wan Mohd Razani is an Associate at Messrs. Tiong & Woon, where he practises primarily in civil litigation and commercial disputes. He graduated from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and was called to the Malaysian Bar on 15 August 2025. Prior to pursuing his LL.B, he completed his Foundation in Law at UiTM with a CGPA of 3.88.

Since his admission to the Malaysian Bar, Arsham has developed experience across a broad range of contentious matters, including construction and contractual disputes, commercial litigation, defamation claims, execution proceedings and insolvency-related matters. He has acted for individuals, private companies and corporate clients in matters involving complex legal and commercial issues.

During his pupillage, Arsham gained exposure to construction, corporate and civil litigation matters. His experience included drafting cause papers, preparing legal opinions on large-scale construction disputes involving claims valued at millions of Ringgit, conducting research on the Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act 2012 (CIPAA) and CIDB-related matters, and assisting with due diligence exercises and the preparation of shareholders’ and other commercial agreements.

Arsham has also gained early advocacy experience, including independently conducting a full day of trial proceedings before the High Court within months of his admission. This has enabled him to develop practical experience in managing litigation matters from the preparation of pleadings and evidence through to the conduct of proceedings before the Court.

Beyond litigation, Arsham has a particular interest in the intersection of artificial intelligence and the law. During his time at UiTM, he co-authored the article “A Comparative Study of Artificial Intelligence Sentencing in Malaysia and China” [2023] 1 LNS(A) xcii, published in the Current Law Journal (CLJ), examining the opportunities, challenges and legal implications of AI-assisted criminal sentencing.

Arsham approaches each matter with an emphasis on careful legal analysis, practical solutions and an understanding of his clients’ objectives. His developing areas of practice and interest include construction disputes, contractual disputes, commercial litigation, judgment enforcement, insolvency and disputes involving allegations of sham agreements.
